Genesis 19:1-2

Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground. And he said, “Here now, my lords, please turn in to your servant’s house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way.” And they said, “No, but we will spend the night in the open square.” (Genesis 19:1, 2 NKJV)

Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. That means he was a respected elder. When he saw the angels, he rushed to save them from the sin of that town. (A sin that he may have participated in, since the men of he city didn't ask for him, since he sat in its gate.) Lot already compromised, and he didn't want the angels to do the same. (He didn't know they were angels.) Have you ever compromised to be part of the world? Have you ever given in to peer pressure and did what you knew you shouldn't to get someone to accept you?
